White Carrera Outdoor Fountain

Hello. We will soon be installing a honed, white carrera outdoor fountain. We live in a cold climate with below freezing winter temperatures. We will of course drain and (http://maplered.com) cover the fountain before winter, but would you recommend using an impregnator sealant nonetheless?  I have read conflicting recommendations on this.
